NORFOLK -- Early Saturday morning a man was struck by a train while attempting to cross railroad tracks on Hampton Boulevard.
Police tell us that around 4 a.m. the man was walking in the 7700 block of Hampton Boulevard when he attempted to cross the tracks and beat a train. He lost both of his legs in the accident.
The man was transported to Sentara Norfolk General with life-threatening injuries. He had surgery Saturday afternoon and is considered to be in critical, but stable condition.
No additional details have been released.
