HAMPTON - Police now say an argument led to murder in Hampton.
On Monday, authorities announced they'd arrested 63-year-old Stanley Mccoy Whitehead for killing 57-year-old Rufus Agustus Thigpen, Jr.
Police say they'd argued during the day Sunday and Whitehead went back and shot him at a home on Victoria Blvd. that night.
Pat Woods is the victim's sister and says her brother stayed with Whitehead to help him out. She says Thigpen was like a caregiver and made sure Whitehead took his medicine.
"Stanley was a complicated person. If he couldn't have his way with things he would kind of act like, crazy," Woods said.
Woods doesn't know what the argument was over but says her brother had spent Sunday afternoon at her home and she begged him to stay. However, he said he had to get home to get ready for the work the next day.
"I wish he hadn't gone there yesterday. I wish he had stayed here," said Woods. "It doesn't make sense. I know all the anger you had in you but how could you do this to someone trying to help you out. He was there trying to help him out."
Whitehead is in jail on charge of Murder, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
