12/5 UPDATE: Police say the woman who identified herself as a caretaker of Samuel Duane Spires was actually a friend of his. Police charged 48-year-old Tamara Lisa Albright with identity theft and falsely identifying self to law enforcement.
Police say she falsely identified herself to police in fear she had outstanding warrants for her arrest.

 

Update: 9:12 p.m.-  Police entered the 54-year-old man's home around 7:30 p.m. with 3 warrants. They found his body and that of his dog.
Richard Bryant was one of the neighbors who was evacuated. "I knew the fellow, yep. This is the first time I ever heard anything that was like this, I haven’t heard anything going on like this," he said.
Homicide detectives are still investigating.

NEWPORT NEWS -- Officials say a tactical situation is underway in the 800 block of Paul Street in Newport News.

Police got a call around 5 p.m. Wednesday about shots fired in the area. 

Police told 13News Now a caretaker came to the home to do some cleaning and a man inside shot rounds off in the house.

Police believe the man is still inside the home.  

No injuries have been reported.
