Portsmouth shooting
PORTSMOUTH - Police arrested a man for shooting another man early Thursday in Portsmouth.
33-year-old Isaac Deberry allegedly approached the victim as he left his home around 1:30 a.m. and opened fire. He was arrested shortly afterwards because people reported hearing gunfire in the area of 500 Columbia Street, police stated.
The 24-year-old victim remained hospitalized in serious condition Thursday afternoon.
Deberry is charged with one count of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by felon, and malicious wounding.
Investigators say they recovered a handgun and mask during the arrest.
No motive for the shooting was released.
