YORK COUNTY -- A 19-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his own mother.
Tuesday afternoon, York-Poquoson authorities received a 911 call from a house on Ponsoby Drive in the Tabb area of the county. When deputies arrived they found 40-year-old Heather Perkins dead; she was stabbed to death.
Investigators arrested her son, Ronnie Dovbish, who was home at the time.
"This is really surprising what happened I don’t know I hope this will be the last time you know. I’ve never seen anything like this. I was just surprised,” one neighbor said.
Another neighbor whose property was right next to the crime scene told 13News Now he knows and works with the victim’s husband. He said the two are in the military.
He said residents are shaken and his daughter is afraid, “My daughter, she’s 11 and she said ‘dad I’m sleeping with you tonight’"
In the meantime, the victim's son is being held without bond.
