PASQUOTANK COUNTY – An inmate has escaped custody from a Pasquotank County Sheriff’s deputy, and authorities say he could be dangerous.
31-year old Tracy Whidbee is 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and was wearing an orange-and-white striped jail jump suit.
Wednesday afternoon in downtown Elizabeth City, a deputy opened the back door of the patrol vehicle to get Whidbee out, but he had removed the handcuffs, according to Sheriff Randy Cartwright.
During a foot chase, the deputy lost sight of him.
Whidbee had been in jail this week on charges of communicating threats. He had previously been charged with armed robbery.
Anyone with any information on Whidbee’s whereabouts is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department at 338-2191 or the Crime Line at 335-5555.
