NORFOLK--Pothole repair work continues on I-264 East in Norfolk after Tuesday's rain reopened already-repaired potholes.
VDOT closed two lanes near the Ballantine Blvd. exit around 8:45 a.m. so its contractor could get to work. Those lanes reopened at 10:30 a.m.
"It took almost six months to do the entire westbound span, so we're asking that motorists be patient and notify us of areas that could be troublesome, because we are also having our crew monitor and repair as quickly as possible," said VDOT spokeswoman Brooke Grow.
Crews worked into the night making repairs to eastbound lanes between Campostella Road and Ballentine Boulevard.
Kenneth Godsey took Tuesday night's the delays in stride.
“Well that's Mother Nature for you. You can't expect to do her thing and not have and cause problems, that's what's happening now,” he said.
About 2 weeks ago, several cars had tires damaged by potholes on the same stretch of highway.
