HAMPTON-- A curling iron may be to blame for destroying a home near the Todd Center Shopping Center..
Fire officials tell 13News, they were called to a home on Lynnhaven Drive shortly after 1 p.m., Sunday. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames showing from the house. Rescue crews believe the flames were ignited when clothes caught fire to a nearby curling iron that was accidentally left on. It took about 20 minutes for crews to get the fire under control. 2 adults and a teenager were displaced, but no injuries were reported.
The Red Cross assisted the family with lodging. The fire was ruled accidental.
