HERTFORD, NC -- A Perquimans County man is being held on a $1.5 million bond on charges he trafficked 12 ounces of cocaine.

Walter Allen Norman, 29, was arrested at his Goodwin Mill Road home in Hertford on Thursday, state authorities said.

Perquimans Sheriff Eric Tilley said there'd been numerous complaints about alleged drug activity at the home.

A block of cocaine with a value of more than $18,000, thousands of dollars in cash and four firearms were seized by the NC Alcohol Law Enforcement, State Bureau of Investigation, the Perquimans County and Chowan County sheriff’s offices and the Plymouth Police Department.

Norman, who'd recently moved to the county from Chowan Co., has previous convictions for drugs and firearm and breaking and entering, authorities added.
