STRASBURG-- A man who walked into Northern Virginia's Sandy Hook Elementary School with a 2-by-4 with the words "High Powered Rifle" days after a gunman killed 26 at a Connecticut school with the same name is scheduled to appear in court.
Christopher Johnson, 33, of Strasburg was arrested Dec. 19. Authorities said he told police he was attempting to deliver a message about school safety.
Johnson is set to appear in a Shenandoah County General District Court Friday. Johnson was charged with one count of disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor.
Commonwealth's Attorney Amanda Wiseley tells the Daily News-Record she has ordered a mental health evaluation of Johnson.
It's not clear what prompted Wiseley to ask for the evaluation or whether that has been completed ahead of Friday's hearing.
