HAMPTON-- Hampton police are still looking for the person who shot a 15-year-old behind a convenience store on Mercury Boulevard Thursday night.

Police say the teen had been walking behind the 7-Eleven when someone came up to him and shot him in the head.

The victim remains in stable condition at a local hospital.

Friends of the teen said he's in tenth grade at Kecoughtan High School.

Robbie Edwards has a class with him. "He's friends with everybody. It's shocking that this happened to him. I guess he was in the wrong place at the wrong time," said Edwards.

Daqan Heckstall is also a classmate to the victim.  He said he cried when he heard about the shooting.

"He's like an older brother to me, he taught me so much stuff and always there for me," said Heckstall.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
