HAMPTON-- A double homicide outside the White Oak Lodge on Kecoughtan Road in Hampton has some neighbors calling for the business to be shut down.
Officers found the bodies of 30-year-old Joseph Lee McQueen of Hampton and 24-year-old Clifton Kareem Christian of Norfolk outside White Oak Lodge on Saturday. Police say the two had been shot.
"The violence is just unbelievable. Why would you want to do that to another human being?” said Rose Scott.
People living near the bar say this isn't the first time they've seen rowdy, violent behavior there.
"I'm beginning to feel that I'm being held hostage in my own home,” said Maryanne Napier, who lives near White Oak. “I can't go out like I want, I can't do what I want. I'm confining my children for their own safety."
Napier says her requests to the owner to beef up security have gone unanswered.
"If he's not willing to try to help us, then I'm not willing to let him stay open," said Napier.
Napier says she plans to go to City Hall Tuesday to obtain a petition to get the White Oak Lounge shut down.
"I understand the gentleman is trying to make a living, he probably has a mortgage, a lease and bills,” said Frank Napier. “But he's got to understand, too, the people around here, we don't want to get injured or killed."
13News reached out to the owner of the White Oak Lodge, but he declined to comment on the shooting or the petition.
