GLOUCESTER - School officials will break ground on the new Page Middle School Monday afternoon.
The $26 million school will replace the old one that was badly damaged by a tornado in April of 2011. The tornado left a trail of destruction as it tore through the school, ripping apart school buses and leveling buildings.
Hundreds of 8th graders have been attending class in trailers outside Gloucester High School ever since.
In the coming months and years, the new two-story, 117,000-square-foot facility will begin to take shape on T.C. Walker Rd. just off of Rt. 17.
Initially the school was projected to be finished by December of 2014. The facility is now scheduled for completion by Fall of 2015.
The groundbreaking ceremony is at 4:00 p.m.
