FRANKLIN--The shutdown of the International Paper Plant in Franklin is getting closer.  More than three hundred workers are preparing for their final days at the plant.  Friday's layoffs will be the largest one day reduction in employees as the mill winds down. Only 250 workers will be left after that to take care of the remaining inventory.

More than 1,000 employees have been leaving in waves since the plant announced its closure in October.

The shutdown of the mill is International Paper's cost reducing plan as the demand for paper goes down.

The plant is set to close in June.
