NORFOLK - A former Virginia Beach teacher is accused of possessing child porn.
38-year-old Michael D. Shanklin, Jr. was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury.
Authorities say he had "one or more images of child pornography" on his computer hard drive. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison if convicted.
Shanklin, a former math teacher, had pleaded guilty in Va. Beach courts last month to spanking a student for not finishing an assignment. According to online court records, a motion in that case is set for December 19.
