Elizabeth City, NC -- The Food Bank of the Albemarle will be opening its in-house food pantry outside normal operating hours to those affected by Friday's storms.

Residents in Chowan, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, who live in areas designated by county officials as severely damaged by the storms, can visit the Albemarle Food Pantry April 30 - May 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. to receive emergency food assistance.

Those who have never been to the Albemarle Food Pantry will need to bring a photo ID or a piece of mail to verify residence.

Those who were not affected by the severe weather, but are in need of food assistance, can visit the Albemarle Food Pantry during its regular operating hours: every Tuesday from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. and the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
 
People who currently receive SNAP benefits and have lost food due to power outage or storm damage may be eligible for replacement benefits. Call or visit your local Department of Social Services for more information.
