NORFOLK, VA -- A  person is recovering from a severe beating at a fast food restaurant in Norfolk.

The fight started at the McDonald's on Duffy's Lane in Ocean View. The restaurant was taped off for hours as police investigated.

So far, police have not released a motive behind the fight. But they do say they have charged 42 year-old Terrence Donyea Lee with felony aggravated assault in connection with the incident. Lee is in custody.

Some people in Ocean View" were not surprised to see the crime tape.

"It's just bad around here, It’s always been bad around here,” Betsy Umphlett told us.

Police say the fight erupted at the McDonald's restaurant near the Ocean View Shopping Center at around 4 p.m. Saturday.

One man went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. But later Saturday evening, police said the victim's condition was improving.

Forensics team members and detectives closed off the restaurant for nearly two hours, trying to figure out what led to the beat-down.

At this point, we don't know if the fight started in or outside the restaurant, but police say it didn't involve weapons.

"We've been here for 12 years and I've seen everything happen out here,” said Umphlett.

Police have not released the names of the other person involved.
