CHESAPEAKE -- The runway to Fentress Airield will re-open Tuesday after being closed since December 2011.
The air field was closed for a $19 million renovation project, including improvements to the taxi-way, pavement, and lighting systems.
The full project should be complete by September 2013, but the runway will be back in operation this week.
Since its closure, FA-18 Hornets have been conducting training out of Oceana.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the re-opening will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
