More than 30 US troops were on board the Chinook when it was shot down by insurgents late Friday in Afghanistan. 22 of them were members of seal team six. It's the elite team that raided Osama Bin Laden's compound in May. But officials say none of the men on the helicopter were involved in the mission to kill Bin Laden.
While the seal team is based in Virginia Beach, they come from all walks of life, from different parts of the country. Sunday, their loved ones spoke to the media, sharing their passions to defend on the front lines, even if it meant paying the ultimate price.
Petty Officer Michael Strange is from Mayfair section of Philadelphia. The 25 year old was a member of seal team six. He just got engaged and bought a new house.
Kevin Houston is from Chesapeake Virginia. He had a wife and three young kids.
Sgt. Patrick Hamburger was a Nebraska National Air Guardsman.
Navy Seal John Brown is from Arkansas.
Navy seal Aaron Carson Vaughn is from Tennessee. He leaves behind a 2 month old daughter and a 2 year old son.
