SUFFOLK -- An elderly man was struck by a car in Suffolk Wednesday night.

Emergency personnell received the call in the 2300 block of Godwin Boulevard near Pruden Boulevard around 8:15 p.m.

Police say the 79-year-old man, who lives nearby, had walked into oncoming traffic and was struck by a Honda operated by a woman in her 20s, according to city spokeswoman Diana Klink.

The victim was taken to Sentara Norfolk General with non-life threatening injuries.

A woman who stopped to help the victim in the median was struck by another vehicle and was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated, Klink said. She is expected to be ok.
