YORK COUNTY-The second power outage of the day is affecting people on the Peninsula.

The first happened around 6:00 a.m. when a vehicle broke a pole on Carys Chapel Road in Poquoson, knocking out power to 679 customers, said Dominion Virginia Power spokeswoman Bonita Harris.

All but 132 customers had service by 7:30 a.m. and all power was restored by 11:30 a.m., she stated.

Around 10:15 a.m., nearly 4,100 customers in York County lost power, including Fire Station #1, Grafton High School and Dare Elementary.

Harris said the outage was apparently caused when a gas contractor cut a cable at Lakeside Dr and US 17. Power was restored by 11:30 a.m.
