VIRGINIA BEACH -- It's been a nightmare for a Virginia Beach pet owner since her beloved English bulldog, Juicy, was stolen from her backyard in April.
Teresa Adkins-James says she feared the worst.
"Hopefully she's not being used as a bait-dog or for dogfights," she said. "Everyday she's missing is more and more heartbreaking."
The American Kennel Club says pet theft is on the rise. Thieves can make thousands of dollars from your stolen pet.
"It's a sad situation," said AKC spokeswoman Lisa Peterson. "Yes, there is a market for stolen dogs. It's all about money, it's a sad situation."
