UPDATE 4/18: Two additional deaths have occurred as a result of Wednesday's crash on Sandbridge Road.
The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Marlo Teofila Bayot and 13-year-old Gabriel Kalani Proctor, both of Virginia Beach.
Noel Ray was a friend of Bayot and said she was a fun-loving woman who always had a smile and loved kids.
"They were just good people and this is something that should not have happened to them," Ray said.
VIRGINIA BEACH -- Two Virginia Beach girls died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Sandbridge Road Wednesday night.
Police said a 2002 Nissan with seven people inside was going north on Sandbridge Road when it veered off the road around 7 p.m. They say the driver over-corrected, sending the car into the path of a 2013 Toyota Tacoma pickup that was traveling south.
The impact ejected one passenger in the Nissan, according to authorities.
Police said 14-year-old Cheyenne Desire Patricia Gurney died at the scene and 10-year-old Cherish Lailani Gurney was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The remaining four juveniles and the adult driver remain hospitalized in critical condition.
The driver of Toyota pickup was treated for minor injuries; the passenger is in stable condition at the hospital, according to police.
The case remains under investigation.

The incident is the second fatal accident in the area in just over a week.
On April 7, 29-year-old Donald Brinkley III died after he lost control of his vehicle. Police say speed and weather conditions may have played a role in the crash.
