Copper wiring stolen from Newport News Church

NEWPORT NEWS -- Police are looking for the suspects who stole copper wiring from a Newport News church.

According to police, copper wiring was stolen from an air conditioning unit at the Rhema Christian Center at 1700 27th Street between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. 

A church member told police he was working on the church grounds the day before the theft and noticed a maroon van on the street and the occupants were asking questions about work in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
