CHESAPEAKE-  Ballot counters are gathering this morning at the auxiliary jail in Chesapeake to begin the process of recounting ballots in the disputed Attorney General's race. Chesapeake joins the city of Alexandria and Fairfax County in beginning the recount Monday while other parts of Virginia will begin the recount on Tuesday.

Chesapeake is beginning the recount early because they have to hand count more than 60,000 ballots.

A mere 165 votes separate Democrat Mark Herring and Republican Mark Obenshain, with Herring holding the edge.

Challenged ballots will head to Richmond on Thursday to a recount court. The results of the recount should be known by the end of the week.

Obenshain and Herring are battling to succeed Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli. Both are state senators.
