CHESAPEAKE--The Chesapeake Police Department has sworn in the city's very first female Asian officer.  26 year old Alice Ng is Chinese American, and a California native.  She spent four years in the Navy but says being a police officer has been her life long dream.

"I've always wanted to save lives and help the community,"  said Ng.

She says for her, the police academy was more intense than boot camp.  She appreciates all the training and work ethic she learned in the Navy though and believes her world experience will help her become a good officer.

Ng hopes to inspire other Asian American women who wants to pursue law enforcement, and hopes to make a difference in the community.

"I want to help those who can't help themselves, those who need justice but can't get it by themselves, I want to help them," she said.
