10/30 UPDATE: A summons for reckless driving has been issued for 41-year-old Ann-Margaret Bethea of Hampton and she's expected to turn herself in Wednesday evening, police say.

WILLIAMSBURG-A woman was hurt when her car slammed into an apartment in Williamsburg Monday night.

It happened around 9:30 p.m. at a building that used to be part of the Princess Anne motel on Richmond Road.

Photos of the building show extensive damage to right side of the building. Fire department spokesman Eric Stone says there were people at home at the time, but no one was hurt.

Stone added the driver had to be freed from her car and then crews got to work to shore up the building.

In all, seven residents weren't able to return to their homes, so apartment management has put them elsewhere, Stone stated.

Investigators are working to determine what caused the driver to lose control and whether to file any charges.
