NORFOLK-- In the wake of the Newtown, Connnecticut elementary school shooting, CHKD expert Sam Fabian gives helpful tips to help parents explain this tragedy to their children.
Fabian says that children who are not school age really do not need to know about the shootings. Students who are in school should not be exposed to too much television coverage.
"You only give them enough information that they can process and you know that when they stop asking questions," said Fabian.
She also encourages parents to let their children vent and express how they feel.
Finally, Fabian urges parents to keep children in their regular routines and maintain a sense of security.
