NORFOLK - Blockbuster Video is closings the last of its company-owned stores - victims of on-demand movies and $1.00 rental boxes.
A decade ago, the video and game rental company had 9,000 stores. That number is down to 300. Some independent franchises will be staying open.
It's DVD mail business is also going away, shutting down in January 2014.
Blockbuster says it will stay in business as a streaming service for customers of its parent company Dish Network.
