VIRGINIA BEACH- Va. Beach Police say a 74-year-old man was killed when his vehicle ran into a utility pole Wednesday evening.
The accident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Northampton Blvd. at the S. Independence on-ramp.
Jerry H. Simpkins's Ford van hit the pole and then went off the road.
He died at the scene.
The investigation continues into what caused Simpkins to lose control.
