NORFOLK-- Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads will give local families a helping hand  for the upcoming school year by hosting their 2nd annual Back to School Extravaganza.

"The Back to School Extravaganza is important to military families because it gives them a multitude of resources at no cost," said Dr. Allison Foster, NSA HR School Liaison Officer (SLO).

This free event will feature music and activities for all ages and more than 30 resource tables with information from local educational institutions, Fleet and Family Support Centers, Fleet Forces Environmental Education, Bricks 4 Kidz demonstrations, and a puppet show.

There will also be interactive activities from the Naval History Museum, Operation Military Kids' mobile technology lab, Norfolk Sheriff's Department, Operation Homefront, and the American Red Cross.

There will also be starter school supplies given away by local SLOs.

The event will take place at CAPT Slade Cutter Athletic Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on August 2.
