Missing fisherman's body identified in York County

UPDATE 4/16:  Northampton County Sheriff's investigators have identified a body found on Racoon Island, a remote barrier island at the southern tip of the Eastern Shore. The body is identified is 56-year-old Edward Webb of Williamsburg.

Webb was reported missing by his family when he did not return from a fishing trip on the York River on December 17th.

His boat was later found on the Gloucester County side of York, about a mile from the Coleman Bridge.

The medical examiner has not yet released a cause of death.

YORK CO. -- Virginia Marine Police are searching for a fisherman who was reported missing Monday night. 

According to Virginia Marine Resource Commission spokesman John Bull, the family of a 56-year-old Williamsburg-area man called police after he didn't return from a fishing trip on the York River.

Bull said searchers located the man's small fishing boat around 7 a.m. Tuesday on the York River but the fisherman was not on board.

The search continues.
