NORFOLK -- Four people were hurt when two vehicles crashed, one overturning, on Interstate 64 East Wednesday afternoon.

Norfolk Fire Department spokesman Capt. Mike Marsala was on his way home when he saw the overturned vehicle on the side of the road between the Norview Avenue and Military Highway exits.

Va. State Police spokeswoman Sgt. Michelle Cotten says the SUV was hit by a vehicle that was changing lanes near Robin Hood Road around 3:20 p.m.

That driver is facing a chare of making an unsafe lane change.

Fire and rescue crews transported  four people from the SUV to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The accident caused traffic problems in the area in the mid-afternoon, but by 4:00 p.m., the VDOT Live traffic cameras on WVEC.com showed no trouble in the area.

However, VDOT opened the HOV and reversible roadways on the Southside because of incidents. Westbound traffic at the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel was backed up to Granby Street.
