CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The National Weather Service is warning of an increased fire danger in North Carolina due to breezy conditions and low humidity.

Forecasters have issued a fire weather watch through Friday afternoon for all of central North Carolina, and for the foothills and piedmont. An increased fire danger was posted for eastern counties.

The fire weather watch means critical fire conditions are forecast to occur. A combination of drying vegetation, low relative humidity and gusty winds of up to 30 mph will create favorable conditions for the development and spread of wildfires.

High temperatures on Friday will range from the upper 50s to the lower 60s.
