HOUSTON -– Officials at Lakewood Church say cash, checks, and credit card info were stolen from a church safe over the weekend.

The mega-church, lead by Joel and Victoria Osteen, did not indicate how the safe was accessed but warned church goers Monday night to keep an eye on their financial accounts.

"We were heartbroken to learn today that funds were stolen from the church over the weekend,” the note to church members read. “This includes cash, checks and envelopes containing written credit card information, and it is limited only to those funds contributed in the church services on Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9, 2014.”

The church says donations made via a drop box, online, or through other electronic means were not affected, nor were purchases made at the bookstore.

The note from the church did not indicate how much money was taken, but officials said the money was insured.

Anyone with concerns can call the church office at 713-491-1506.
