RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Richmond police say the fatal shootings of a couple appear to be a murder-suicide.
Two officers shot while trying to check on the couple are recovering from non-life threatening wounds.
The shootings occurred Saturday afternoon at a residence.
Police say in a news release that officers went to the residence at the request of family members. They went inside after they couldn't contact anyone and determined that a woman might be in danger or need medical attention.
Police say a man shot at the officers. They returned fire and then left the residence.
SWAT team arrived and unsuccessfully tried to make contact with the people in the residence.
The team then entered the house and found the bodies of a man and a woman. Their names haven't been released.
