6/10 UPDATE: Jamiel Douglas Graves pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of capital murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend.
Graves was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, according to the Commonwealth's Attorney.
An autopsy revealed that Mandi Myers was killed by strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head. Her body was found inside her bedroom closet.
This comes as the second life sentence for Graves. In April, he pleaded guilty to murdering a young mother in Norfolk.
VIRGINIA BEACH -- The grand jury Monday will hear the evidence against a man accused of murdering the mother of his children.
Jamiel Graves is charged with killing his ex-girlfriend, Mandi Myers, in November 2012 in her Va. Beach apartment.
In Va. Beach court last Tuesday, the lead investigator testified the 29-year-old had been strangled and suffered a blow to the head.
Court records state Myers confessed to killing her and stealing her car.
For now, he's charged with 1st Degree Murder and Larceny of a Firearm; the charge of grand larceny of a vehicle was temporarily withdrawn, said Commonwealth's Attorney spokeswoman Macie Pridgen.
The Grand Jury meets May 6 and will decide whether to send the case to trial.
A motions hearing in the case is set for June 18.
Graves, meantime, faces a murder charge in Norfolk in the death of his neighbor also in November. Phylicia Robinson lived in one unit of a duplex on Marlow Ave. and Graves lived in other unit. Her remains were found in the closet of his home.
