VIRGINIA BEACH-Va. Beach Schools hopes to have things back to normal at one of its schools after a plumbing problem last week.
On Friday, samples from Creeds Elementary showed there was too much bacteria and posed a health risk.
Until officials know the water is safe, students and staff are using bottled water, hand sanitizer to wash their hands in bathrooms and classroom sinks, the cafeteria staff is only making food that doesn't require water to prepare and pots, pans and silverware used during lunch are being thoroughly cleaned at another location, Va. Beach Schools spokeswoman Eileen Cox told WVEC.com.
Those measures will remain in place until testing shows the water is safe, she stressed.
Work on the problem is wrapping up and then several days of water testing are required.
