VIRGINIA BEACH-- Police have arrested one of the suspects in the theft of 200 lbs. of  x-ray film from a local hospital.

Jerry Days, 41, of the 3300 block of Fulton Street, Brooklyn was arrested in New York Tuesday and extradited to Virginia Beach.  He is charged with Burglary and Petit Larceny.

On August 1st of last year,  police say Days and another man entered Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on First Colonial Road around 1:20 a.m. in an attempt to retrieve x-ray films.  The security staff denied them access because they did not have proper identification.

A short time later, police say that Days and the other man re-entered the hospital and approached a hospital employee working in radiology. The suspects told the employee they needed to pick up x-ray films and were directed to the film room.

The suspects managed to steal over 200 pounds of film from the hospital.  Police say that such thefts are a growing trend and the thieves extract the silver from the film, which is then sold.

The case remains under investigation.
