VIRGINIA BEACH (AP) -- The holiday show at the Virginia Beach oceanfront will go on as scheduled, despite the work of vandals who damaged the display.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that crews are hustling to repair the damaged displays so the show can go on Friday night.
The resort city's entertainment contracting company, Beachevents, set up the holiday and nautical-themed lights weeks ago. Since then, vandals bent the metal frame of a giant squid and removed more than 100 red bulbs from the Boardwalk's metal rail.
Wednesday, they cut the wires to a rocking horse in a town display.
Visitors can view the McDonald's Holiday Lights at the Beach display from their vehicles while driving along the Boardwalk. The show is open through Jan. 1.
Tickets are $12 per car Monday through Thursday; $15 per car Fridays through Sundays and holidays.
