VIRGINIA BEACH- The city's considering expanding roads and services on Centerville Turnpike near Regent University.
As part of the area's strategic growth plan, leaders could vote to widen the road feeding into the university.
"It's going to do a lot to relieve the heavy traffic congestion we have in the district," said Councilman Bob Dyer.
Some people, like Centerville resident Pam Dolan, are hoping the city prioritizes other initiatives like building a new fire station and recreational center.
"I think they would help the community, which is what they say we're doing," she said.
Residents can voice their concerns during a public hearing at Tallwood High School tonight.
