VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Virginia Beach man is charged with being a Peeping Tom and he was caught in a wild chase.
Police say Ian A. Brodie, 21, looked in on a couple in the bedroom of a home in the 3700 block of N. Donnawood Court early Monday.
The incident was reported around 1:30 a.m., police said.
Dave Byrd told 13News reporter Philip Townsend that he and his girlfriend saw a shadow in their window and eventually saw the suspect.
He says he ran out of the house, wearing no clothing, to catch the suspect.
"I jumped out of bed as fast as I could," said Byrd. "I really didn't care. I didn't feel naked. My mindset was just getting this guy," he added.
He eventually tackled the Peeping Tom in the front yard of home five doors down. Byrd said he was able to get Brodie's cell phone and call police. He did this all while containing the suspect.
"I picked him up and held him like this on the hood near this car. The police came from that way and shined a light and said, 'Sir, you can put some clothes on quickly.'"
The victim says two of his neighbors also talked about seeing a peeping Tom over the last few months.
