VIRGINIA BEACH-- The City of Virginia Beach is providing single adults needing shelter during cold winter months a warm place to stay.
The Winter Shelter Program provides homeless individuals with a place to sleep each night from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. at various churches throughout the city.
Participating faith organizations rotate weekly until April to provide overnight shelter and meals. Some organizations also provide additional support and resources, such as toiletries, clothing and medical care.
Volunteers of America operates the program and provides the men and women with transportation from the Lighthouse Center at 825 18th St. to area churches.
