VIRGINIA BEACH – The Princess Anne High school band made an effort to help storm victims, but crooks played a number on them.
The students visited New Jersey to perform and hand out supplies to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. But while they were reaching out, thieves stole their truck and trailer.
“I lost a truck, but I had a dozen people offer to bring us home,” parent Mike Lyons noted.
Band Director John Boyd says thankfully the students already donated clothes, gloves and other goods to the victims before the theft.
The band made it home safely Saturday night, and Boyd says their loss doesn’t compare to everything people lost in the storm. “Everyone up there is still in need. They are still without power. They still don’t have homes.”
