VIRGINIA BEACH-- Thousands of elementary students across Virginia got their hands dirty while celebrating Earth Day Monday.

The children at Campostella Elementary School pledged to make a difference by respecting and caring for trees.

The Radio Disney “foresters” tested the students’ tree smarts in an action-packed game show.  Afterwards, the kids helped plant a Dogwood tree, donated by Dominion Virginia Power, which also gave all of the students their own tree seedling to plant.

“Dominion designed this program to provide a meaningful outdoor learning experience for children in the communities served by our company,” said Virginia M. Board, managing director-Community Affairs and president of The Dominion Foundation. “Every student enrolled in Project Plant It! can make a personal contribution to the environment.”
