UPDATE: Tip leads State Police to violent sex offender

Officers are looking for 52-year-old Melvin Leon Wallace, who is a violent sex offender and should be considered armed and dangerous.

12/23 UPDATE: A concerned citizen called early Sunday with information about Wallace and that led to his arrest in Laurel, Maryland.

 

 

HAMPTON ROADS -- The Virginia State Police need help locating a violent sex offender.

According to State Police spokewoman Sgt. Michelle Anaya, officers are looking for 52-year-old Melvin Leon Wallace, who is a violent sex offender and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Wallace is currently wanted on two felony counts for knowingly fail to re-register as a sex offender.

His last known address was in the 500 block of Sterling Court in Virginia Beach.  He was evicted from that home on December 2.

Wallace is believed to be driving and moving around the Norfolk or Virginia Beach area.  He drives a  1986 primer-gray Nissan or Toyota model pickup truck that has North Carolina registration with a partial NC tag of X6X-____.

Wallace is also known to be traveling with two pit bulls.

Wallace is a black male,  5 feet 6 inches tall, 171 pounds, has black hair and brown eyes.
