VIRGINIA BEACH-- A service dog was rescued from an apartment fire in Virginia Beach Monday.

Firefighters responded to to the Mayfair Apartments in the 5800 block of Newtown Arch around 2 p.m.

Officials say the fire was contained to one unit and nobody sustained any injuries.  The service dog was also uninjured.

Officials said the fire started in a bathroom and appears to be accidental.  Damage was isolated to one apartment.
