VIRGINIA BEACH-- Some Virginia Beach middle school students spent the day in hands-on science and technology classes.
Nearly 900 kids at Corporate Landing Middle School took part in STEM day. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering and math.
There were more than 50 demonstrations ranging from aeronautical engineering to robots used by SWAT teams.
"These are skills the kids need for the future. So that is creative thinking, critical thinking, problem solving so that's what it is all about," said principal Daniel Smith.
Smith added the school is looking for more ways to include the STEM education into the curriculum.
