VIRGINIA BEACH- You often hear TV reporters say "If you know anything about this case that can help police, call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP."

In Va. Beach, the program that gives tipsters money if their information leads to the arrest and conviction in a crime is called Crime Solvers.

The program was created in 1982 and works in conjunction with the police, but independent of the force.

Over its 30-year history, tips have led to the arrests of thousands of wanted people and the recovery of millions of dollars in stolen property and illegal drugs.

Because the program gets no money from any government agency, it relies on donations and money raised through fundraisers.

The next event is June 1st - the 7th annual "Pig Pickin" at the Virginia Beach Airport on Princess Anne Road in Pungo, It's from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There will be food and beverages, great music and four vintage aircraft will fly during the event. Also, the aviation museum will be open to all attendees. Tickets are $40 for adults and $10 for children.
