VIRGINIA BEACH -- The first set of tractor-trailer rigs packed full with decommissioned executive office furniture and décor donated by Shell Oil arrived at Operation Smile’s global headquarters in Virginia Beach Tuesday.

Operation Smile’s staff, along with supporters and volunteers welcomed the convoy at the building’s loading dock located off Rosemont Road.

Jerry Moyes, a longtime supporter of Operation Smile and Founder of Swift Transportation, donated all shipping services to deliver the four truckloads of furniture a combined 5,000 miles cross-country.

Creative, the Chesapeake-based workplace interiors and technology company helped facilitate Operation Smile’s move from Norfolk to Virginia Beach last week.

“By joining forces, these corporations are helping us maximize our value to the community, environment and the children we serve,” said Operation Smile’s COO, Wayne Zinn.

Operation Smile stands to save nearly $200,000 by utilizing donated pieces instead of purchasing new furniture.

“Thanks to the generous donations and commitment of theses corporate partners, our organization will be able to deliver more smiles,” said Zinn.
